We have heard from Dad all this week and everyone is fine in Abbeville. Odell and Roy are the only 2 I know of in New Orleans and Dad told us they were both ok. I think they went to Baton Rouge. I don't know what this will do to Dad's presentation in November right now I'm sure they have their hands full. We just have to pray and help any way we can. Take Care. John & Denise

They're off. Did not want me to take their pic in Long John's, but they have layers upon layers. Perry and Eddie are prepared. Even brought their tux just in case they get tickets to a ball. He! They did luck out and get a hotel room this morning. OP made his weeks ago. He is going to the Constitution Ball. This is a great day for the USA. Our forefathers set us on a good path. But freedom is not free. Donna, we think think of Brooks all the time. Our prayers are with him. I'm sure he feels all the family prayers. Well, I will sit back and enjoy the festivities in my warm condo and remember all those who make this possible. Love to all,

Well hello family. It is infrequent that I am in here but nice to read comments and many thanks to all who have thought about Brooks and are remembering him in their prayers. These are the things sustaining him and our family. By the grace of God we made it through a Thanksgiving , abirthday celebration for Mom and Dad ,a 60th Wedding Anniversary for Mom and Dad , a New Year's celebration without a special member of our family here with us. I can only imagine how this was on him...Today is Brooks 23rd Birthday....another important event without his presence. He calls us approximately once a week ....and remarkably he sounds well..... considering what he is up again. Our love to all of you. Donna

Great news from Dallas on the new Tinker coming VERY close to my birthday May 26th. The Doctor over here has been hit with a lot of questions on this one and has handled it quite well of course. We will be in Abbeville on the 5th of Nov to celebrate the election of Mr Bush again and oh also the wedding and Daddy's birthday. We need everyone one of the family who can VOTE to VOTE. We are hurricane weary. Florida has been hit with 4 of them in the last couple of months. Jacksonville was spared a direct hit...but we were brushed. Lots of wind, rain, power outages, flooding, tornados, etc. Tinker damage was limited to power outages of a few hours. Kathryn and her 2 were here during the last one. We have not planned our November travel yet so we don't know if we will make the Abbeville events or not.

The trip to Nova Scotia was phenomenal. The most moving experience was visiting the Cross of Deportation in Grand Pre. Over 4000 LeBlancs were at the LeBlanc family reunion. Other families met at other sites. There were 250,000 at the closing Mass. You will never guess who we ran into...Dean and Des! The Congres will be in Quebec in 5 years and Lafayette in 10. I wanted to give everyone plenty of notice.

Helen is doing as well as we can expect. We see the Neuro Wednesday and shall see if she needs new medication. Well Happy Birthday Gert we hope you have a great day and don't forget Shucks is on me when you have time. Bob

Did everyone get their Famille de LeBland laisser parler? Who is planning to go on the LeBlanc Family trip to Nova Scotia in August? Joe and I are going. We figure it will be a GREAT way to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. Robert, Kumiko and Raemi are planning to go. Don't think the Wright's will be able to attend. Not sure about the Vega's or Jonathan. Happy Valentine's Day to all. Congrats to Linsey.

Hello to everyone and congratulations on the new baby, David and Lucia. I did not know the Vega's were having another one, so that is exciting and the baby is due on Lindsay's 26th birthday--April 27! By the way, Lindsay got engaged on January 6 to Brian Patrick Seely from Houma, LA. We are thrilled to have such a great guy join our family. We are busy making wedding plans and having tons of fun. I will try to make it a point to do better with writing and checking in. Love to all. Claudette

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with Jonathan, Brandon, Carrie and Caroline (Joe's neice). We were in Abbeville from the 12th until the 26th of December to celebrate MaMa's 80th birthday, Courtney's graduation and Christmas. We saw the whole family over the holidays and all are doing well. But, it is GREAT to be home. Happy New Year, everyone. Brandon joined us for dinner today. Carrie had to work, but he stayed for a couple of hours and we did our share of eating.

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY TO BRANDON!!!!!!!!!!! I am so happy someone is logging on. We need comments to keep this page going. I also used a recipe for the recipe page. Gert's fig cake. Bobbie, you have a lot of will power not to taste that cake when it is warm. It is soooo good!!! I did freeze 1/2 of it right away. There was enough left to have our fill and have an experiment freezing the rest. I wrapped it in two layers of aluminum foil. It is easy to cut while frozen and I warmed it in the microwave for 15-30 seconds. I also want to try Gert's corn casserole. Well, I know you and Carrie will enjoy the crawfish. Hello to all over there. Hope to hear from more of the family.

Anyway, it was great fun and the pictures are great. I will be sending mine to Uncle OP soon in order to get them on line. Keep those recipes coming. I love the book. Visited with Bobbie yesterday in Lafayette--I was in town to bring Mandi to Camp Maw Paw. They road ponies--mom's theme this year was COWBOYS. They had a grand time. Thanks to my precious sister, Michelle, for all the hard work she put in for the reunion--the decorations, the name tags, the food table, and the t shirts. She outdid herself. Dad would have said--Kee yat! Hey Toot--I think your mud was better than Edie's! Special Congrats to Laura Ditch on her team's game. We are proud of you. So far Adrian, baby Avery, Kathryn, Denise, Rob, Michelle and Jacob, Bobbie and I are taking the tour and going to lunch. No place planned for lunch yet. If someone wants to meet us just for lunch, please let me know. That may determine where we will go. St. Martinsville, Lafayette or Abbeville. It really doesn't matter. The more people we have, the better. Donna, I remember the Ivory snow flake Christmas trees very well. To me, at that time, it was the closest I would get to the real thing. A child's fanatasy. A White Christmas. Do you remember the little white rocker?? Mama bought it from a peddler on the street for $1.00 when I was one year old. It was used by many since and it is still very sturdy. Christopher (2 in August) is claiming it as his now. It has many coats of white paint on it. Some by Big Brother Bob. Okay. I gotta go. See you soon.

Hey Bobbie--when I first thought of the "cookbook", I was thinking that if everyone mailed me 10 recipes then I would be super busy. Since it is on the web site, you can post as many as you want because I am not doing all the typing, editing, and printing! So put on that hot sauce if you want. There is no limit to the recipes you want to put on the cookbook web site.

Claudette, thanks for all your work. Daddy's meat loaf is baked at 375 degrees for 50 minutes, covered. At first glance of Brandon's picture, I thought it was Jonathan. Maybe one of my kids has a LeBlanc gene after all.

Joe just got in from NYC. This is my first look at the chat room for several days. We are both interested in the Memorial on Friday afternoon. If it ends up being on Saturday morning, I'm interested. Joe will be playing golf. So far the Mass is not on the Activities Room, but for all those interested we plan to attend as a group at 4 PM on Saturday afternoon at St. Mary Magdeline. Hey, I haven't seen any chats or recipes or pictures from my children. You there?

If the memorial is closed......she can get the key. So I think we will be better to set it up for Saturday. She also thinks the LeBlanc family would be interested in reading this web page www.acadian.org/heraldry.html On this web site there is a LeBlanc link. She had been referred to it in regard to the term they have been using "Crest, 'Family Coat Of Arms" in regard to the new additions at the Memorial. This has all kinds of Acadian resources, for those who are interested. If you are interested in visiting the memorial on Sat............please let me know ASAP.

I have heard from Pat Ditch Resweber (OP's sister in St. Martinville). She would like for those who haven't seen the Acadian Memorial (in St. Martinville)to see it. She would be happy to give a personal tour. If you are interested, let me know. Sun,the 6th is the reunion. Sat, the 5th is the golf match. Friday afternoon might be a good time. What do you think? BTW, Donna, I can just picture Bob saying that. Esp. that grin that you know he will say something amusing. Thanks for the description. You do that so well.

A Bush booth wouldn't do any good in Louisiana since he lost Louisiana the first go 'round! The only state he won was Florida because his brother helped him. And by the way O.P., I have no idea how much the Hilary book was purchased for, as it was given to me by my Republican daughters on Father's Day.

Just got off the phone with Bobbie. I will be entering her recipes after Monday when I pick them up! I love the way the cookbook is shaping up. Not real sure why some recipes are not showing up after they are typed--Michelle had some problems too. Maybe Uncle OP can help us out with that one. I love that some of the little ones are contributing. Where are the MEN? We need our guys to send in recipes!! We all know those Cajun men and their sons and sons-in-law can cook great. Do not forget to list your lineage. That will be fun to have in the future. Keep looking for those photos and send them in. It is great seeng all that stuff. Love thi!!

Kathryn, I am so proud of you. You are the first Tinker to contribute to the Cookbook. Aunt Gert, thanks so much for the Maque Choux recipe. That is one I always wanted. Shirley, I don't know where Daddy is, but to further confuse you. His renition of Mama's candy is identical to mine except he only uses 2 cups of sugar. Go figure. Claudette, I'm with you. This cookbook is shaping up, but considering how much slimmer we were in the 1975 photo I hate to start trying the new recipes. Why do Cajuns love to eat so much?!!!!!!!!!!!

We are celebrating Jonathan Edward Ditch's birthday today. It will be an "ice skating" party. This Maw Maw is not getting on the ice. I don't want anything to keep me from this reunion. Jonathan's birthday was yesterday. June 20th. He is now 4 years old. I remember the day very well. We got to the hospital very early in the day and WAITED all day. When Jonathan was born, Lucia's Mom said "Whew! I Never want to go through again." He! He! Of course, I knew my son, David, would be handling it so I wasn't worried. He! They are great parents! Now that reminds me of Karen's birth. OP was in Vietnam and Gert stayed all afternoon, evening and night with me in the hospital. Karen was born at 3:30 in the am. Thanks, Gert!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bobbie, thanks for the comment. The recipe I sent was in Mama's handwriting in her recipe box. But yours must be the original. Please put it on the recipe page. Bob, where are you? We need your comments. The fun of this is our perception of what we remember. Claudette remembers Mama's cabbage casserole. I remember Helen used to take it to family dinners. One time it wasn't in her plans and I asked her if she was taking it. Well, Bob went out and bought the ingredients at the last minute and Helen made the casserole. Can you imagine going through all that trouble??? But it something I remember. LeBlancs are like that. Yes, they are!!!!! Shirley LeBlanc Ditch (Edward J. LeBlanc)

First off, Donna, you didn't give Joe a number. Claudette the picture is marvelous. It would be a great one to print and put in the cookbook. Shirley, I hate to keep correcting your recipes, but the recipe I have for Mama's candy is a little different than the one you call carmel fudge. Mama puts 2 cups of pecan's. My recipe calls for 1/2 can of water and only a tablespoon of butter. It also calls for a tablespoon of vanilla and 2 tablespoons of Karo. True to Cajuns, one can change their recipe to suit their own taste buds.

Claudette has sent a painting she made of the old home (Gamm's home) where my parents lived and where June and Bob were born. It is on Highway 339 and it is where Poleet used to live. She took some photographs of it in 2001 and her daddy told her that the house is where he was born. She painted the painting for him before he died. Jimmy got some cypress off of the house to make the picture frame. She have not framed it yet. She thought it might be fun to show all the young ones where Edward J. Sr. and Neda once lived. Gamm was Lucia's Mother and raised Edward J. LeBlanc. He was 3 years old, Uncle Roy was 2, and Aunt Rita was 1 year old when both Lucia and Homer LeBlanc died. Aunt Rita and Uncle Roy were raised by another relative.

Adding history to the 50 YEAR OLD POUND CAKE Dessert recipe on the Reunion Web site, Bobbie says that Grandma got that recipe from her when she and Joe were first dating. That had to be 1963. The recipe came from Nannie Lene Dobertine who was Helen's Godmother. Bobbie says that when they lived just off USL campus in Lafayette and kept Perry overnight she served that recipe to you with real bottled rum on top. WOW! Just the thought makes me happy. Not "skinny", but happy! I love this page!

Oh! check out the family recipe page. Claudette wrote a beautiful dedication. It is a work in progress. There will be some changes.
